The world population continues to grow; it is expected to exceed 8 billion by 2030 and more than 9 billion by 2050. A larger population requires more food, and more food means more agriculture.
Agriculture is a global primary sector that will continue to be critical for the overall world economy. Cultivated land will grow very modestly in the coming years, so the demand will be for producers to become more efficient on the same land area. At the same time, crops will continue to face unpredictable climates, pest and disease pressures, and growing restrictions on the use of chemical inputs.
In this context, biostimulants represent one of the most promising tools for increasing productivity without expanding the agricultural frontier. Their ability to improve nutrient use efficiency, increase stress tolerance, and enhance plant metabolic processes positions them as the new frontier of precision agriculture.
