In the Buenaventura region of Chihuahua, characterized by high incidence of root diseases, conventional chemical control practices have been insufficient to mitigate productivity losses in onion cultivation (Sierra Blanca variety). This scenario demanded more effective biological alternatives to ensure greater root health and optimize agricultural profitability.

The study evaluated the impact of Biofit RTU and Rhizo Tx formulations as biological tools to improve root health and rhizospheric activity. The study was conducted on 3 hectares with applications following recommended doses and schedules. Root system development was monitored via minirhizotron cameras.

Results showed treated roots displaying intense white coloration, an indicator of greater activity and root health. Productivity increased by 5,772 kg/ha (8.15% improvement). Bulb quality also improved significantly: 14.37% increase in average weight and 8.86% increase in average diameter, with more uniform commercial size distribution.

Biofit RTU and Rhizo Tx formulations proved to be effective tools against root diseases in onion, promoting a healthy and productive root system. The increment in bulb weight, size, and homogeneity reflects a direct impact on crop profitability, highlighting this biological approach as a sustainable alternative to conventional methods.
